Give your health a boost during Living Well Week

A week-long event that gives people a chance to find out more about courses and classes taking place in the Borough, to help them live well and enjoy life now and in the future, is to take place once again this year, from Monday 9 October to Friday 13 October.
Living Well Week is aimed at over 50s and offers a packed programme of free advice, taster sessions and introductory offers to a variety of services and leisure facilities across the Borough, all designed to help get their health and wellbeing on track, so that after the week is over, they can sustain a healthier lifestyle that works for them.
Talking about Living Well Week, Woking Borough Councils Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Beryl Hunwicks, said: Living Well Week provides older residents of the Borough the perfect opportunity to take stock of their health and see where they could improve their lifestyle in order to stay well and live longer.
As we get older, we can feel that our bodies find it harder to shake off those extra pounds, or sleep off that one-too-many glass of wine, but we might not pay as much heed to what this is doing to our physical and mental wellbeing in the long run. With added pressures some of us might also have, such as ageing relatives or grandchildren to care for, it is no wonder that some peoples own health may tend to fall by the wayside, as other priorities take over.
This is why I really encourage people over 50 to use Living Well Week to take some time out for themselves and discover what Woking has to offer to help improve their health and adopt better habits. The better you feel, the more fulfilled your life can be, and you will find yourself more able to tackle lifes ups and downs.
