Current works

The current phase of works focuses on the upgrading and resurfacing of a number of key highways, pedestrian footpaths and crossings in the eastern quarter of Woking town centre.

Works to the western end of Church Street East and the horseshoe incorporating Christchurch Way and Chobham Road are already complete.

Information about the remaining elements of this phase of works are outlined below.

Full depth reconstruction and resurfacing of highway with granite block paving. Includes pedestrian footpaths.

Four-way traffic lights will be in operation during this phase of the works. Please expect some delays.

Complete November 2019
Victoria Way pedestrian crossing (adjacent to The Lightbox)

Removal of guard rails and resurface crossing island and adjacent pedestrian footpaths with granite block paving.

Pedestrian crossing will remain accessible at all times.

August 2019 to October 2019
The Broadway (between junctions with Duke Street and Locke Way)

Resurfacing of highway with granite block paving.

A complete road closure is necessary to facilitate these works. A signed diversion route will be in place during the works. Access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

Resurfacing highway junctions with granite block paving. 

A complete road closure between 11.30pm and 5.30am, Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for three weeks is necessary to facilitate these works. A signed diversion route will be in place during the works. Access for pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

Between 2 and 23 October

Maybury Road (between junctions with Stanley Road and Locke Way)

Widen existing pedestrian footpath to incorporate cycle path, create new pedestrian footpath adjacent to railway line and install raised traffic calming measures.

Temporary traffic lights in operation.

September 2019 to November 2019
Duke Street (between junctions with Chertsey Road and Locke Way)

Widen pedestrian footpath and resurface highway with granite block paving.

Create five disabled parking bays.
