Why undertake a work experience placement with Woking Borough Council?
Undertaking a work experience placement with the Council aims to provide an excellent opportunity to gain and improve some of the important skills required for the world of work. It will give you an insight in to the types of positions available in public sector organisation.
We think that some of the skills you could develop are:
- IT skills
- Team work
- Using your initiative and problem solving
What might I be doing?
The majority of our placements will be based in the Civic Offices in Woking Town Centre and you will spend your time supporting the work of a small team. Your day to day duties could include checking and replying to emails, answering the telephone, monitoring post, preparing documents, filing or research.
You may also shadow members of the team and assist them with their day to day work or you could accompany a member of the team to a meeting or an event.
What type of people are we looking for?
We are looking for people are keen to learn and willing to get stuck in and try new things. You don't need to have had a job before, but a polite and friendly personality is essential. We are particularly interested in applications from those looking to pursue a career in the public sector.
How do I apply?

What happens next?
Once you have submitted your application form, the HR team will contact the appropriate managers to see if they can help. You will receive an email within 30 days to confirm if your application is successful or not.
