Buying recycled

Purchasing recycled content products and materials, creates a demand for materials recovered from recycling collection schemes.

Increased demand for recycled products reduces the price. Buying recycled also helps to divert reusable materials away from landfill, reducing waste disposal costs and conserving resources, particularly energy.

There is now a wide range of recycled items available including products made from paper, plastic, textiles, glass and timber. Look for labelling on products to see if they are recycled.

  • The National Recycling Forum's (NRF) Buying Recycled website details the important issues about recycled products, including labelling, and contains a database of available recycled products.
