Bring ID to vote on Thursday 2 May 2019

Voters across Woking Borough will need to show photographic identification before they can vote in person, at the polling station, at the next local election on Thursday 2 May 2019.

Voters who do not produce valid identification will not be allowed to vote.

Please note that the ID requirements have changed from last year.

Voters must bring one of the following forms of photographic ID to their polling station:

  • Passport (UK, EU, Commonwealth)
  • UK, EU or Crown Dependency Photo Driver’s Licence (including provisional)
  • European Economic Area (EEA) photographic ID Card
  • UK Biometric Residence Permit
  • PASS card*
  • Ministry of Defence ID card
  • A concessionary travel pass funded by HM Government**
  • Oyster 60+ pass
  • A Blue Badge parking permit photo card
  • Northern Ireland Electoral Identity Card
  • Or a Local Elector Card 

Only original documents are accepted; scanned images or copies will not be accepted however expired documents are accepted if the photo is still a current likeness.

*National Proof of Age Standards Scheme for example ONEID4U, VALIDATEUK; CITIZENCARD; MYIDCARD

** For example Surrey Senior Bus Pass; Surrey Disabled People’s Bus Pass

No suitable photo ID? Apply for a free Local Elector Card

Voters who do not have any of the accepted photographic ID can apply for a free Local Elector Card, which is available to all voters who need it until 5pm on Wednesday 1 May 2019.

Postal voters will not be affected and will be issued with their postal ballot papers as usual. If you choose to vote by proxy then the person who you have trusted to vote on your behalf will have to take their own identification to be issued with a ballot paper.
