The Place Survey

The Place Survey is a new satisfaction survey which replaced the Best Value Performance Indicator (BVPI). The survey, which all local authorities are required to carry out, is sent to a random selection of residents on a two yearly basis.

In August 2008, Woking Borough Council sent out 2,500 surveys to a random sample of households in the Borough. The survey asked residents to give their opinions on their way of life in the local area. The questions were based on the following themes:

  • about your local area

  • local public services

  • local decision making

  • helping out

  • getting involved

  • respect and consideration

  • community safety

  • protecting the environment

  • keeping you informed.
