Prepare for winter weather

Wintry weather, such as snow, strong winds and heavy rainfall, can cause disruptions to our daily lives. To keep up-to-date with the latest information, follow the advice below.

  • Weather warnings are issued by the Met Office. For the latest situation, check the Met Office website for the latest forecasts.
  • For county service updates, visit Surrey County Council's website to see the latest information on school and library closures, road gritting and salting, travel disruption and changes to bus services.
  • For borough service updates, see the homepage of our website to find out about any disruptions to services such as waste and recycling, street cleansing and community services.
  • If flooding occurs or is forecast, see our Flooding page for emergency advice and information.
  • If your property is at risk of flooding, sign up for the Environment Agency's free Floodline service, which sends localised alerts and warnings when flooding in your area is possible.
  • The Met Office website gives local updates in severe weather conditions. Listen to your local radio station or visit websites for the latest bulletins – Eagle Radio on 96.4FM or BBC Surrey on 104.6FM.
