Proximity cards conditions of use

CONDITIONS OF USE FOR CAR PARK PROXIMITY CARDS

All Town Centre Car Parks (with the exception of Heathside Car Park) are barrier controlled.  A proximity card to operate the barriers in the car park to which your permit relates is provided to permit holders.  The system incorporates an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system which automatically lifts the barriers for vehicle registration numbers previously notified to the Council for permit holders.

For disabled blue badge holders the proximity card will allow access to all Woking Borough Council barrier operated car parks.  Disabled blue badge holders must not park on any yellow lines, within permit holder only bays or in any other reserved bays other than disabled bays.

The proximity card is a manual backup for the ANPR system and should be used if :-

  • the ANPR system is not working for any reason

  • you are not using your notified vehicle, or

  • you are a category of user where entry to the car park is restricted to card use only.

  • do not Iinsert it into any barrier machinery.

Always keep the proximity card in the plastic holder provided to prevent damage.  To use, place it close to the proximity card symbol that is on the entry and exit barrier machinery.

Please keep a record of the proximity card number (found in the bottom right hand corner) as you will need to quote it should you lose your proximity card, or in any communication with us concerning the use of it.  Companies that have multiple permits must maintain records of the individual holders the proximity cards are issued to.

If a proximity card is lost, notify Parking Services in writing so that it can be cancelled and a replacement issued, for which there will be a charge of £25. Replacements will only be made if the proximity card number can be confirmed. Stolen proximity cards must be reported to the Police and a crime reference obtained before a replacement can be considered.

The proximity card remains the property of Woking Borough Council and if for any reason you do not renew your permit/disabled blue badge, the proximity card must be returned to Woking Borough Council or a cost may be incurred.

Any change in contact / vehicle details should be notified to the Council in writing as soon as possible to ensure that all records are accurate.

Should the proximity card not be available where it is required to access the car park, the daily charge will have to be paid.  No refund of any parking charges so incurred will be made.

The Council reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withdraw a permit/proximity card at any time upon giving one month's notice.  If applicable a pro-rata refund of the remaining period of the permit will be made, on the basis set out above.

Proximity cards are issued subject to the Council's order(s) relating to car parks in force at the time and the Council reserves the right to vary such orders during the period of the subscription.  Cars are parked at the Owner's/Driver's risk and the Council accepts no liability for loss or damage to any vehicle or part thereof, nor will it accept liability for the death of or injury to any person(s) arising out of the use of the car park, save insofar as such death or injury is caused by the negligence of the Authority, its servants or agents.
