Highways street trees, grass verges and shrubs

Trees growing in the footway or verges of adopted roads and streets in the Borough are maintained by Serco on behalf of Woking Borough Council. Contact Serco if:

  • a tree growing in the highway verge or footway is obscuring a road sign or street light, blocking visibility in the road, or obstructing/damaging the footway
  • you would like to have a new tree planted in the verge or
  • you have any other concerns regarding street trees or grass verges.

If your enquiry is an emergency and you need to contact someone outside normal office hours, telephone 01483 518300.

Contact Surrey County Council if:

  • leaves are blocking gullies or
  • garden trees, shrubs or hedges growing in private land are obstructing footways or public rights of way (including public footpaths and bridleways).
