Planning application requirements - validation checklists and forms

Where an application is not accompanied by the information required by the local planning authority on its local list, the applicant should provide a short written justification with the application as to why it is not appropriate in the particular circumstances.

National Planning Application forms (1APP)

Please use the the type of application (below) you wish to make and the checklist of items to be submitted. For combined applications select the combined form. Note that the requirements for each type of application should be amalgamated and two sets of all documents are required for each part of the application.

Notices to be served on land owners

For applications where ownership certificate B or C is completed (i.e. where the applicant is not the sole owner of the application site) then the appropriate notice must be served in accordance with Article 11 of the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (England) Order 2010.

For householder applications this form should be used.

For all other types of application this form should be used.

It is important that you read the validation checklists, pre-application advice and validation of applications information before proceding with your application.

Failure to provide competent information or to follow pre-application advice on items to be submitted with your application is likely to lead to a refusal.

Extending the time limit of existing planning permissions

You cannot apply for an extension to your existing planning permission if the development has already commenced, if the permission or consent has already expired at the time of application, or if the permission/consent was granted after 1 October 2009. In these cases, a new application would have to be made.
