The South East Plan is the the regional strategy for the South East. It sets out the overall scale of development for the region and included borough housing targets for the Plan period, 2006-2026.
The South East Plan was published on 6 May 2009. It was revoked by the coalition government on 6 July 2010 however a legal judgement on the 10 November 2010 re-established the South East Plan as part of the development plan.
The Government has written to all local authorities and made them aware of its intention to revoke all regional strategies through the forthcoming Localism Bill.
The final South East Plan was published on 6 May 2009. The plan was prepared by the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA). It set out the strategic planning policy framework for the Borough and formed part of the development plan for Woking. It can be viewed on the Government Office for the South East (GOSE) website.
The South East Plan set out the overall scale of development for the region and included borough housing targets for the Plan period, 2006-2026. It replaced the former regional planning guidance set out in Regional Planning Guidance Note 9 for the South East (RPG9) as well as the Surrey Structure Plan 2004, which previously set out housing targets for Woking and the other Surrey boroughs and districts.
The draft South East Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State in March 2006. The Examination in Public (EiP) was held between November 2006 and March 2007.
The Report of the Panel of Inspectors who conducted the Examination in Public was published on 29 August 2007.
The Secretary of State published Proposed Changes to the South East Plan on 17 July 2008 for public consultation until 24 October 2008.
The final South East Plan was published on 6 May 2009.
