Green Belt Study

The Council is carrying out a study of the Green Belt as part of the Evidence Base of the Local Development Framework. The study has arisen from Policy SP5 of the South East Plan which states that a selective review of the Green Belt boundary is possibly required to the south of Woking.

The study involves analysing all the current literature affecting Green Belts. Site surveys are being undertaken to evaluate sites in the Green Belt, to assess how the land contributes to achieving national Green Belt purposes.

The study will not seek to allocate land for development, but will inform the housing and employment options in the emerging the Local Development Framework.

The study should be complete in early 2010.
