Woking Town Centre Streets and Spaces SPD

The Council is preparing a Woking Town Centre Streets and Spaces Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) to supplement Local Plan policy WTC1.  The SPD will provide guidance on managing growth in the town centre.  The SPD is being jointly funded by the Council and the South East England Regional Development Agency.

Between the 12th April 2007 and 24th May 2007 consultants acting on behalf of the Council undertook early stakeholder engagement on the SPD.  This involved a series of questionnaires and workshops.  The responses received are currently under consideration.

The Council is also consulted on the scope of the Sustainability Appraisal that will be undertaken on the SPD to ensure that it meets with the social, economic and environmental aims of sustainable development.  The Scoping Report contained a number of consultation questions.

Following on from this first round on consultation on the SPD and the Sustainability Appraisal, the Council will prepare a draft SPD and Sustainability Report which will be subject to a further six weeks of consultation.  The Council aims to adopt the SPD in 2008.
