The Council is preparing a Planning Obligations Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) to supplement Local Plan policy IMP3: Planning Benefits. The SPD will indicate the likely infrastructure requirements of new developments and provide guidance on standard formula. When adopted, the SPD will become a material planning consideration, and will be taken in to account when determining planning applications.
Between the 12th April 2007 and the 24th May 2007 the Council undertook early stakeholder engagement on the SPD. The various infrastructure providers that operate in the Woking area were contacted and asked to provide information about existing and future capacity:
As well as specifically targeted groups, the Council welcomed the views of the wider public on future infrastructure provision.
The Council is also consulted on the scope of the Sustainability Appraisal that will be undertaken on the SPD to ensure that it meets with the social, economic and environmental aims of sustainable development. The Scoping Report contained a number of consultation questions.
Following on from this first round on consultation on the SPD and the Sustainability Appraisal, the Council is preparing a draft SPD and Sustainability Report which will be subject to a further six weeks of consultation between July and September 2008. The Council aims to adopt the SPD in February 2009.
