Climate neutral development SPD

The Council is preparing a Climate Neutral Development Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) which will provide guidance on how to incorporate climate neutral technologies (such as solar panels and sustainable drainage systems) within new developments.  When adopted the SPD will become a material planning consideration, and will be taken in to consideration when decisions are made on planning applications.

Between 12 April 2007 and 24 May 2007 the Council undertook early stakeholder engagement on the SPD.  The responses received are currently being considered by the Council.

The Council also consulted on the scope of the Sustainability Appraisal that will be undertaken on the SPD to ensure that it meets with the social, economic and environmental aims of sustainable development.
