Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out the timetable for the Council's preparation of the Development Plan Documents that will make up the Local Development Framework.

A revised LDS came into effect on 18 May 2010 following discussions with the Government Office for the South East and a resolution by the Council on 19 April 2010. The revised LDS took into account changes to the plan-making system introduced by the Government in Planning Policy Statement 12 (June 2008) and the Planning Act 2008 together with amending Regulations.

However, due to uncertainty surrounding the status of the South East Plan, consultation on the Draft Core Strategy was postponed from August-September 2010 to November 2010-January 2011, necessitating a further revision to the LDS timetable approved by the Council on 21 October 2010.

In order to accommodate an extended consultation period for the Publication Core Strategy the Council's Executive approved a further revision to the LDS in October 2011. The timetable for the revised LDS is as follows:
