Local knowledge test

As part of the hackney carriage driver licence and private hire driver licence application process you will be tested on your knowledge of the Woking area by a Licensing Officer. If you fail to reach the qualifying standard on the first attempt, you may ask to retake the examination on two further occasions.

To prepare for this test you will need to:

• pick up an application pack from the cash office
• make an arrangement to come into the office and have submitted your application form. 
• get to know Woking really well, including local landmarks, streets and roads
• study the Highway Code and
• study relevant licence conditions (hackney carriage driver, private hire driver, hackney carriage, private hire vehicle).
