Driving standard agency test

All hackney carriage driver licence and private hire driver licence applicants are required to pass a Driving Standard Agency test.

The test has been developed especially for hackney carriage and private hire applicants. It is described as a mature drivers test, mid-way between the learner and advanced tests. It is conducted by a DSA examiner specifically trained to conduct the assessment. Each test takes approximately 40 minutes to complete. It includes specific "cab" manoeuvre such as "U" turns, not stopping where passenger's doors cannot be opened (alongside walls, or trees), etc.
