Designated premises supervisor

If one of your licensable activities is the sale of alcohol, you will be required to name a designated premises supervisor (DPS) on your premises licence.

Only one DPS can be specified on a premises licence, but the same DPS can be named on more than one premises licence.

The DPS is likely to be the person responsible for the day-to-day running of the premises (not necessarily the premises licence holder), as they will be expected to spend a significant amount of time at the premises.

It is the intention that the DPS will be the point of contact for the Licensing Authority, Police and Fire Rescue Service.

A DPS must hold a personal licence.
