Foot and mouth

13 September 2007

An outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease has been confirmed in Egham in the neighbouring borough of Runnymede. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has published a "Declaration of a Protection Zone and Surveillance Zone".

Woking Borough Council is appealing to residents to be on the lookout for any stray dogs in the area and report them immediately to the Council's dog warden on 01483 743652 during normal office hours, (if outside normal office hours please phone 01483 730872). This is a precautionary measure to minimise the possible transmission of the disease.
