Ground floors

Ground bearing floors

• These details assume that ground conditions permit the use of a ground bearing floor slab and that ground is free from contamination.
• Hardcore is clean, compact and sand blinded.
• A screed finish could be added to concrete if required. Levels to be adjusted accordingly.

Suspended ground floors

• These details assume that manufacturer's details are followed and that calculations are provided to justify the structural stability of the floor.
• Site should be well drained and not subject to flooding.
• A damp proof membrane (linked to the DPC) may also be required.
• Void beneath floor should be ventilated on at least two opposite sides. Telescopic vents are normally used.
