Opportunity to comment on planning documents

01 July 2014

Woking Borough Council is giving local residents and businesses the opportunity to comment on its draft Design Supplementary Planning Document and Statement of Community Involvement before these are finalised for adoption.

Design Supplementary Planning Document
The Design Supplementary Planning Document provides guidance on the application of Policy CS21 - Design of the Core Strategy. The document promotes the principles of good urban design and good practice to help developers and applicants improve the quality of design in new development across the Borough.

Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement provides detailed guidance of how and when the Council will involve the community and other interested people and organisations in the preparation of its planning policy documents and determining planning applications. This is the third version of the Statement of Community Involvement and will replace the 2011 Statement of Community Involvement.

Cllr Graham Cundy, Woking Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: "Both the Design Supplementary Planning Document and Statement of Community Involvement form an important part of the Council's Planning Policy. The Council greatly values the public's involvement and I would encourage local people and those involved in bringing forward development of this kind to engage with us during the consultation process. All comments received will be taken into account before the documents are finalised."

The consultation period for both documents begins on Tuesday 1 July 2014 and will run until Tuesday 26 August 2014.

Both the Design Supplementary Planning Document and Statement of Community Involvement can be viewed at the following locations:
