Visitors to Woking town centre are in for a taste of French delight as the popular French market, or le marché, is coming to town from Friday 20 December until Sunday 22 December 2013.

Based in Mercia Walk and Commercial Way, the market will be full of delicious offerings to tempt the taste buds and gorgeous gifts for any last minute Christmas shopping.

Visitors can stock up on festive foods including fresh breads, cakes and home made biscuits, along with chocolate, confectionaries, roasted nuts and dried fruit. There will also be a range of cheeses, a charcuterie, a delicatessen, jams and honey on offer.

If that's not enough to whet your appetite, visitors can pick up olives, spices and mustards or take a break and enjoy pancakes or a mouth watering merguez sandwich. Bon appetit!

For those on the hunt for festive gifts with a French twist, stalls will be brimming with soaps, incense and candles, along with leather goods, ceramic dolls and clowns, wickerwork and crafted wooden flowers.

Cllr Gary Elson, Woking Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Public Market, said: "Visitors are in for a treat before Christmas as both the Farmers' Market and French Market are coming to Woking Town Centre. This will offer a festive feel, where visitors can browse the stalls, pick up some unique produce and soak up the atmosphere."

The market will open from 9.30am to 6pm on Friday, 9am to 6pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.

Visitors can also enjoy the popular farmers' market in Mercia Walk when it comes to town on Thursday 19 December from 9am to 2.30pm.
