General advice

The Council would advise residents to:

  • only go out if necessary. If you do need to venture out, please take extreme care
  • avoid travelling unless necessary. If you do need to travel, please take precautions and be prepared
  • check that elderly neighbours or people who may require assistance are OK
  • make sure animals and/or children do not walk on frozen ponds or the Canal
  • only call 999 in a real emergency
  • tune in to their local radio and television news programmes to stay abreast of the latest situation with regards the heavy snowfall.

We can all help support our local communities and neighbours. Helpful information and advice about preparing for winter can be found on Surrey County Council's website here.

Further updates about Council services, including waste and collections, affected by the heavy snow will be posted up on this website and on Twitter @WokingCouncil in due course.
