The H.G. Wells Conference and Events Centre in Woking is preparing to welcome TV presenter, David Dimbleby, and the rest of the Mentorn Media production team, following confirmation that Question Time will be filmed in front of an audience at this venue on Wednesday 7 April 2010.
Question Time is the BBC's premier political debate programme, offering British voters a unique opportunity to quiz top decision-makers on the events of the day. The panels are drawn from significant figures in politics as well as industry, the media and entertainment.
On Wednesday 7 April, the Woking venue will host the programme for the first time and it will be transmitted at 10.35pm on BBC ONE.
Speaking about the programme's visit to the town, Douglas Spinks, Woking Borough Council's Deputy Chief Executive, said: "The centre has been used for a variety of purposes over the years including conferences, boxing matches, exhibitions and concerts but never for BBC ONE's Question Time. We are very much looking forward to welcoming the television crew and hope that local people will participate in the debate."
Local people who wish to join the Question Time audience are asked to register their interest by completing a form on the BBC website.
It is also possible to take part in the debate during the programme by sending the BBC a text message. The number is 83981. A selection of viewers' comments appear during the programme on Ceefax and red button page 155, which allows viewers to continue watching the programme while messages appear across the foot of the TV screen. People can also follow messages from the programme on its Twitter account: @bbcquestiontime.
