Woking residents are being encouraged to swap Dimbleby for local decision-makers and 'tune in' to a special Community Question Time event which will be held between 6.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday 17 March at the H.G. Wells Conference Centre in Woking.

The event, which has been set up to give Woking people the chance to find out more about local matters that are important to them, will provide an opportunity to quiz senior staff from local services about their current work and future plans.

Senior representatives from Woking Borough Council, Surrey County Council, Surrey Fire and Rescue, Surrey Police and NHS Surrey will form an expert panel which will:

  • explain the good work that is going on to ensure that Woking continues to be a safe place in which residents can live and work, and

  • answer questions from local people who may wish to know more about topics such as community safety, housing, health and well-being and services for young people.

In addition, representatives from the business, voluntary, community and faith sectors will be on hand to talk to local people and showcase some of the work that they have been involved in.

Speaking about the event, Cllr Beryl Hunwicks, Chair of The Woking Partnership, said: "This is a great opportunity for residents to speak directly to the people who are involved in making decisions about the local area. I would like to encourage anyone with an interest in Woking Borough to come along, tune in to the presentations and ask any questions that they may have. We look forward to welcoming people on the night."

Attendees are being encouraged to provide their questions in advance of the meeting by completing a simple e-form.Alternatively, questions can be directed to the Community Question Time organiser, Shelly Mann, on 01483 743461 or email shelly.mann@woking.gov.uk
