Songs from a bygone era will be ringing out at St Mary's Centre for the Community today and tomorrow, as staff, volunteers and centre members take to the stage for two special performances of old Music Hall classics.
The show, produced and directed by Alan Mercer and George Scott, will feature classic music hall songs, such as `Daddy wouldn't buy me a bow-wow', `I do like to be beside the seaside', `Mud, glorious mud' and `It's a long way to Tipperary'.
Donna Banville, Operations Manager at St Mary's, said: "St Mary's has a tradition of putting on annual pantomimes and shows. Staff, volunteers and centre members have all worked hard to put on a show of traditional music hall songs that everyone can enjoy and sing-a-long to."
Music halls were a popular type of entertainment in towns and cities around Britain between the 1850s and 1930s. They brought together a variety of different acts which together formed an evening of light hearted entertainment.
The two performances will take place at 1pm on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 February 2010 at St Mary's Centre for the Community, Byfleet. Tickets are priced £5 and are available from St Mary's.
