Due to the continued adverse weather conditions, Woking Borough Council has had to make alterations to its waste and recycling collection services.
Residents' blue-lidded wheeled bin collections are cancelled for week commencing Monday 11 January. During this week, residents are asked to put their black-lidded wheeled bin out on their normal collection day. Please do not place your recycling bin out for collection during this week. Blue-lidded wheeled bin collections are scheduled to return to normal week commencing Monday 25 January. Surplus recycling materials will be collected if placed next to the bin.
Residual waste collections had recommenced, Monday 11 January, in line with residents' usual collection day where it is safe to do so. Residual waste collections will also take place week commencing Monday 18 January. Extra residual waste will be collected if placed next to the bin during these two weeks. Please remember, for week commencing Monday 11 January, place your black-lidded wheeled bin out for collection instead of your blue-lidded wheeled bin. Any resident, from whom a collection cannot be made for safety reasons, during week commencing Monday 11 January, is requested to store their refuse until week commencing Monday 18 January, when it will be collected on their usual collection day. Surplus waste material will be removed if placed in plastic sacks next to their black-lidded wheeled bin.
Delivery of the new food waste containers will begin week commencing Monday 25 January. It is anticipated delivery to households will take around three to four weeks. Householders can start using the new service as soon as they receive their containers.
Collections from sites with shared facilities, some chute-fed, will recommence, where safe to do so, week commencing, Monday 11 January.
Collections have been suspended until the temperatures increase well above freezing. This is because wet garden waste has frozen within the bins and will not empty. It is currently planned that collections will resume week commencing Monday 18 January. Surplus garden waste will be collected during weeks commencing 18 and 25 January. It should be placed in an open plastic sack next to your green bin. Please note, this only relates to subscribers of the garden waste collection service.
Due to icy conditions, this site is closed until further notice.
The service taking place at the rear of Woking Leisure Centre will take place as scheduled on Sunday 17 January and an additional date of Sunday 24 January has now been added.
Collections are taking place where access can be safely achieved.
