Following the introduction of new hazardous waste restrictions, Woking Borough Council has reviewed arrangements for recycling engine oil and has decided to remove the oil bank from the Kestrel Way Recycling Centre from week commencing Monday 12 September. The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, which came into effect on 16 July this year, have meant that the Council has had to make significant changes to arrangements for managing and tracking the movement of hazardous waste, including oil.
The Kestrel Way oil recycling facility is being taken out of action as it is no longer suitable for the disposal of this type of waste.
Residents who would like to recycle their engine oil, can still take their waste to the Civic Amenity site at Martyrs Lane in Woking, as this is a staffed site and is better equipped for the disposal of oil.
