Pool in the Park is a registered centre of education and excellence for the Amateur Swimming Association (A.S.A.) and a regional training centre for a number of organisations and governing bodies that provide teaching/coaching and instructor courses in a variety of water-based disciplines.

National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers N.R.A.S.T.C

Course information:

The National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches is an essential qualification for all teachers.  It gives an introduction into the understanding of general procedures, safety, first aid, resuscitation and rescue techniques.

Requirements:

Applicants must be 16 years of age at the start of the course.  The participant must be physically fit, able to swim at least 20 metres front and back continuously and to submerge to normally a depth of at least 1.5 metres:

Full course

  • 29 May, 5 and 6 June
  • 20, 27 and 28 November

 Renewal

  • 6 and 7 March
  • 30 May and 6 June
  • 26  and 27 June
  • 31 Oct and 7 Nov

Please note: You must hold an unexpired NRASTC certificate to qualify for the renewal course.

National Pool Lifeguard Qualification N.P.L.Q.

Course information:

This is an essential course for anyone wanting to take employment as a lifeguard.

Requirements:

Applicants must be 16 years of age or over at the start of the course. 

Full course:

  • 15th - 20th February 2010

  • 12th - 17th April 2010

  • 26th - 31st July 2010

  • 25th - 30th October 2010
