What is Everyday Swim?

Everyday Swim is a national initiative led by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), funded nationally by Sport England and locally by Woking Borough Council to encourage more people to take the plunge and make the most of their local swimming facilities.

The Everyday Swim project in Woking has been working with local partners and community groups since September 2006 to improve access to, opportunities in and information on, swimming and aquatic activity.

Some of the schemes successes include

  • altering the standard traditional swim wear guidelines at Pool in the Park
  • introducing easier access opportunities for families
  • opening four school pools for free family swimming in 2007 and 2008
  • hiring a private pool for ladies only swimming
  • bringing young mum's and their children to the water
  • launching a revolutionary new adult learn to swim programme
  • being the first pool in the UK to have indoor surfing lessons
  • developing and promoting SwimFit
  • introducing Aqua wellness to the aqua aerobics timetable
  • organising a comprehensive advertising and marketing strategy to raise the profile of the Pool in the Park
