Getting involved

There are a number of ways to get involved in the countryside around Woking.  By reporting any broken fences, vandalism, etc that you come across to 01483 755855 you can help us to maintain the sites to a safe and pleasant standard.

Cow checking

Cows are brought onto the Heathland sites for grazing during the summer.  Volunteers are needed to check the animals are still all on site and that they are healthy.  No experience is required and full training will be given.  If you are interested or would like more information please contact Christina Smith at the Surrey Heathland Project on 020 8541 9149 or christina.smith@surreycc.gov.uk

Nature Conservation Camp

Each year Woking takes part in the Trinational Nature Conservation Camp for 16 to 21 year olds.   Ten young people from Woking Borough will be joined by ten from Fano in Italy and ten from Rastatt in Germany who all have an interest in working on nature conservation projects.   The week long residential camp rotates between the three countries and in 2008 will be held in Fano, Italy.  The group will be involved in a variety of conservation activities during the week along with excursions to local places of interest.
