The art of recycling
16 September 2008 - 10 May 2009
With initial inspiration from Guildford Borough Council's recycling department, Recycled by Design explores the creative potential of recycling in the visual arts. The project has given young people in Surrey the chance to work with professional artists on a theme that is vital and timely. Taking place during 2008, these community partnerships in Guildford and Woking make way for the finale showcase exhibition at Guildford House Gallery.
This is complemented by a series of temporary installations at The Lightbox, displaying the best of art and design in recycling media. Five artists have been selected to create work throughout the building and in the courtyard, alongside the exhibition programme. These contemporary artworks raise awareness of recycling through a showcase of excellence in the visual arts.
