Maybury Maps

Maybury Maps was a digital arts project with the Maybury community, which explored the question of 'what decisions would you make if the future wellbeing of Maybury was in the palm of you hand?'.

From May 2010, artist-in-residence Janetka Platun worked with a number of groups in the Maybury area. Using a macro lens, the participants were invited to have their palm photographed. The resulting images reveal a visual terrain of each persons hand, creating intimate personal landscapes, all similar in content but unique to each individual. The images are accompanied by the participant's responses to the work.

The launch of 'Maybury Maps', a series of publications celebrating this creative digital journey in Maybury, took place in December 2010 at The Maybury Centre.
