Making Surrey will deliver a high quality programme of new craft-making residencies across the eight boroughs and districts of the county's local authority arts partnership. Seven makers have been appointed to take up residence in eight prioritised places identified by each authority and will work with those communities during 2011.
Artist-in-residence, Andrew Morrison, will be working with the Maybury community in Woking to explore the area through printmaking. The project began with an enthusiastic printmaking workshop at Maybury Infant School in early July, and there will be further workshop opportunities over the coming months. The next workshop will be:

Artist-in-residence: Andrew Morrison Andrew is a multi-skilled artist whose work combines a love of poetry and typology with visual arts and printmkaing. He studied illustration and printmaking and for many years has combined days of creating his own prints and books, with workshops, lecturing and working on community arts projects. He likes to use imagery that comes, in some way, from the local environment. Every place has its specific qualities: the names of its roads; its pavement surfaces; the lettering that identifies its shops; the visual traditions that make a 'location', and he tries to use these particularities in development and making craft. |
