Big Screen Steam

Annual shows featuring the glory days of steam in footage and short films at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre in Woking. Many feature local areas of interest whilst others are drawn from fictional movies and films. Alan Wilmott, once of British Transport Films and Alan Youdell of the British Film Institute, provide live expert commentary and interesting insights into the history behind each short piece of footage.

Railway with a heart of gold (USA, 1952)
A light-hearted account of the Talyllyn narrow-gauge railway in Wales, as seen through the eyes of a visiting American.
Flying Scotsman (BBC, 1968)
A filmed record of the 40th anniversary run of this famous locomotive, celebrating the original 1928 non-stop run from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh Waverley. With comments from Alan Pegler.
