Live and Direct is an educational and gig support network for young musicians (and potential musicians) between the ages of 11 to 19 years. The programme encompasses rock and music technology and is due to expand to include urban music genres. The overall aim is to develop the confidence and skill of young musicians to enable them to make informed decisions about their musical futures.

The 'out of school hours' project promotes the creation of original song writing and composition in a supportive and non competitive environment. Young people don't have to read music or own instruments to take part and there are no auditions. It is open to all young people and any money raised from gigs goes straight back into the project.
The first club in Woking began as part of a pilot study in partnership with Woking Youth Development Service. 24 students from Winston Churchill School attended a 10-week club held at Woking Youth Arts Centre, that ended with a gig for family and friends.
The autumn Live & Direct term will begin on Wednesday 8 October, 7pm - 9pm at Woking Youth Arts Centre, Trinity Road, Knaphill. The sessions will run weekly (no session on Wednesday 29 October over half term) and the last session will take place on Wednesday 10 December.
For more information or if you'd like to take part, please contact Hannah Smith, Arts Development Officer on 01483 743702 or email hannah.smith@woking.gov.uk
