Important heating safety information

As a tenant, if you have any concerns about your heating system, there are some simple ways to identify if there is a problem, for example if:

  • there is an unexpected rise in the temperature of your hot water

  • there is warm or hot water coming out of your cold taps

  • you hear any unusual noises from your heating system including banging or bubbling.

If you experience any of these problems you should immediately turn off the immersion heater using the switch located near the hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard. Next, report the fault to Quadron on 0800 9803382.

We will treat your call as a priority and will make early contact with you. Before visiting your home we will check our records for information on the type of hot water system in your property. This may confirm that you are not at risk and you have a different problem, for example:

  • if you have an electric immersion heater to heat your hot water and the water fails to heat, then you are not at risk but you should turn off the immersion heater and contact the Council as above

  • if you have an electric immersion heater to heat your hot water and the system is operating normally, you do not need to do anything as we will visit and inspect the thermostat within the next 12 months.

If you have any doubts or concerns regarding this information, then please contact the Woking Repairs Service on 0800 521555 and we will do our best to answer your questions.

Can I have a temporary heater?

If your heating cannot be immediately repaired, you can request an electric heater. Phone Quadron on 0800 9803382 and they will arrange delivery. When your heating is repaired we will calculate how many days you used the electric fire and how many days you were without heating, so we can arrange a refund to your rent account. For full details of the compensation please contact Tenant and Leaseholder Services on 01483 755855.
