Disabled adaptations to Council housing

Introduction

Every year we will spend about £500,000 adapting Council housing to make it easier for tenants or their families, with a disability or a special requirement to live comfortably. These adaptations range from major works, such as providing downstairs bathrooms, ceiling hoists and stair lifts to smaller items such as handrails for baths and access ramps for entrances.

I would like an adaptation to my Council home, who should I call?

If you think that an adaptation to your home would help you live more comfortably, then call the Woking Repairs Service on 0800 521555.

A Housing Surveyor will make an appointment to visit you to discuss your requirements. WRS logoThe surveyor may contact the Surrey County Council occupational therapist who will be able to provide a more detailed report on your requirements before work starts.

If you are requiring major adaptations we will also consider whether you are in the most suitable property for your needs, as other properties may have already been adapted or be more suitable.
