Telecare sensors

What are Telecare sensors?

These are automatic devices in the home which work along side the basic Careline unit to notify the Care Centre of a possible problem, for example:

  • Smoke detectors

  • bed and chair occupancy sensors

  • pill dispensers

  • fall detectors

  • flood detectors

  • property exit sensors

  • carbon monoxide detectors

  • gas detectors.

What do they cost?

There is an additional charge of £1 per week for any number of sensors you have in your property. The installation is normally free.

What happens if a sensor is activated?

The Care Centre will respond to the alarm calls by contacting the key holders and or the emergency services.

Are they for me?

Bed Sensor

Karen likes to make herself a cup of tea when she can't sleep at night. However she occasionally falls when making her way to the kitchen. The bed occupancy sensor would notice when she got out of bed and can turn on a light and start a count down. If she does not return within a specified time a call will be made to the Care Centre.

Property Exit

John was found by the police wandering to the local shop whilst his wife was sleeping. His family are concerned it may happen again. The property exit sensor will detect when the door is opened after 8 pm when the carers have left. Alternatively will detect when the door has been opened and it can not see John returning in from the bin store.

Pill Dispenser

Margaret has memory problems and is forgetting to take her medication. Her family can fill the dispenser once a week and lock it. When the medication is due to be taken the dispenser will beep and show the tablets to take. If they are not taken with in a specified time the Care Centre will be informed and will remind Margaret or call her family to attend.
