Housing Strategy 2011 - 2016

Following an in-depth consultation process, the Council's new Housing Strategy 2011 - 2016 is now live. If you would like a hard copy of the Strategy, please contact Housing Enabling on 01483 743856 or email housingenabling@woking.gov.uk

The strategy focuses on delivering four key housing objectives in the Borough:

  • providing well-designed, quality homes that are affordable and suit peoples needs;
  • preventing homelessness and providing help to people with housing needs;
  • helping people to achieve independence and choice;
  • making better use of all existing housing by improving the standard and quality of management.

These objectives have been developed in response to local needs, as well as consultation with residents and partner organisations. For more information on the consultation process please visit our consultation pages.

Reviewing our actions and keeping track of progress

The Strategy has 5 action plans, detailing how the Council will achieve its housing objectives.

To ensure that the strategy's action plans represent the ever-changing needs of the Borough's population and the Country's economic and political climates, we will review each plan on an annual basis and revise them to fit with the current needs. This is a new approach to delivering the Council's housing objectives; in previous years, action plans were fixed over a five-year period, making them inflexible and incapable of responding to new challenges.

Updates on the Housing Strategy action plan will be posted on this webpage.
