Housing Strategy 2005 - 2010

Introduction

Welcome to the Council's Housing Strategy 2005 - 2010.

The Strategy shows how the Council will meet its top priority - decent and affordable housing.

The action plans within the document show how the 10 priorities or aims of the Strategy will be delivered.                                                           

The 10 priorities in the Strategy are:

Priority 1 - To maximise the provision of affordable housing.

Priority 2 - To meet the needs of those who require support.

Priority 3 - To reduce homelessness and rough sleeping.

Priority 4 - Improve stock condition in the Borough and maintain a high quality environment for the community.

Priority 5 - Meeting the needs of Key Workers.

Priority 6 - Meeting the needs of the Ethnic Minority Communities.

Priority 7 - To create balanced communities.

Priority 8 - To support crime reduction in the provision of housing.

Priority 9 - To deliver good quality accessible services to the public, ensuring effective use of resources and promoting equal access.

Priority 10 - To maintain up to date and accurate information on housing and related issues to enable effective strategic planning.
