The other sites included in the Priority Homes Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project in 2006 were:
In order to comply with Communities and Local Government (CLG) requirements, outline planning consent was sought on all these sites, the only exception being Brookwood Farm, where the application was withdrawn due to English Nature's concerns about the effect this development may have on the nearby site of Special Scientific Interest.
Albert Drive: The proposed development area is on the garage site between 28 and 30 Albert Drive, Sheerwater.
Eden Grove Road: The proposed development area is on the west side of the allotments at Eden Grove Road, Byfleet.
Pares Close: The proposed area is on the garage site in Pares Close, Horsell.
Wishbone Way: The proposed development is on the depot site at the far end of Wishbone Way, Goldsworth Park.
The four smaller sites i.e. Albert Drive, Pares Close, Eden Grove Road and Wishbone Way are no longer part of the PFI project and are being taken forward by our Registered Social Landlord (RSL) partners who will make bids to the Housing Corporation for their development.
Currently it is anticipated that bids for Housing Corporation funding will be made in 2008. If bids are unsuccessful or are not taken forward in this timescale, the Council will look to take them forward through some other means, for example development by Woking Borough Homes.
Barnsbury: The proposed development areas are made up of reserved land in Hawthorn Road, Ash Road and Ash Close, Barnsbury. These areas of land were reserved for future housing development in 1980.
The sites at Barnsbury are also no longer part of the PFI project. Local people in Barnsbury had the chance to put forward views about the future of their area during a six month consultation exercise that took place from January 2007.
At present, the resources and funding are not in place to enable this development to move forward. However, we can not guarantee that this will not change in the future but before any scheme is taken forward it will be subject to the views of all those residents whose properties may be required and/or affected.
Brookwood Farm: Large site - The proposed development area is on reserved housing land adjacent to Coresbrook Way, Knaphill. The site has been identified for future housing development for a long time.
The planning application for Brookwood Farm was withdrawn as issues arose with regard to a nearby Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Protection Area (SPA). Whilst it is considered that these will not be a block upon development, the additional work required to address these issues would take time to deal with. It is therefore recommended that Brookwood Farm is only included in the PFI bid as a reserve site.
Brookwood Farm: Site of former farm buildings - This site was not included in the Priority Homes PFI project . It is situated close to the larger site mentioned above. Work is on going to develop this site for 10 affordable homes and 2 private sale homes.
