Search tips

The search engine on this site indexes all web pages on the site which will allow you to find exactly what you are looking for. Here are some tips for getting the most out of the search:

Simple searches

For a quick, simple search just type the keywords you are looking for into the search box at the top of the page, and click `Search'. This will search for pages which contain all of the words you enter. For example, searching for planning applications will find all pages which contain both words.

The Advanced Search allows you to refine your search even further, by selecting not just all of the words but exact phrases or any of the words. The advanced search will also allow you to search The Woking Forum and the archive of latest news in addition to normal web pages.

All of the Council's committee agendas and reports dating back to 1996 are indexed by the search engine in addition to all council minutes dating back to 1986. You can search for these documents by either selecting the date of a specific meeting (if the meeting has occured in the last 12 months) or by a general keyword search.

Search results

Search results are ordered in descending order of relevance by default. In addition you can choose to order the search results by date or by page title. Each webpage is also categorised by the search engine and you can refine the search results by choosing this option from the search results screen.
