TUNE IN MEETING UPDATE

On the 5th of July 2007 a Neighbourhood Tune-In meeting was held in Byfleet Parish Hall.

The purpose of the meeting was to give the residents of Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford an opportunity to meet and discuss local issues, considering improvements in the area that could be made by the residents. Everyone was asked to note their concerns on arrival and then given the opportunity to discuss the top three issues in small groups with facilitators.

A number of actions resulted from the meeting which the local Council, the Police and the community themselves need to address. As far as the neighbourhood Officer tasks go, these were the areas that I needed to look at.

  • Animals have been attacking the litter bin outside the school in Peatmore Avenue - the old waste bin has been removed and it has now been replaced with a new bin which has since resolved the problem.
  • Continuous litter problem in Oyster Lane - this area would normally be on a 12 weekly clean. However, I have arranged with Serco that a weekly litter pick will take place and I have also arranged for two more litter bins in this road.
  • No footpath along one side of Dartnell Park Road - after previous local consultations with residents, it was strongly felt that this situation would not be desirable and no further action will be taken.
  • Overhanging vegetation along the path that runs from Dartnell Avenue to Camphill Road - Serco have advised that the vegetation was cut back in June 2007, September 2007 and again in February 2008. This area will continue to be monitored.
  • At Orchard Dene there have been access problems for Biffa waste Services when making the waste and recycling collections - Recently there have been no problems reported but this situation continues to be monitored.
  • Mill Lane litter problem - A litter bin has been placed on Mill Lane near the entrance to the area, which will soon be managed by the Wildlife Trust.
