Local Agenda 21

At the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, Local Authorities world-wide were challenged to address global environmental concerns by taking actions locally, under community-led Local Agenda 21 (LA21) programmes. Since then, Woking residents have engaged with and pro-actively promoted environmental and sustainability issues in the Borough.  Read on for details of projects and initiatives that have been, and continue to be, undertaken.

Woking LA21 Group's Projects and Initiatives

LA21 Meetings and Events. LA21 organise a range of public meetings each year. These cover topical environmental issues, and often include talks by local and national experts.

 

LA21 Newsletter. LA21 produce a regular Newsletter to update on projects and relevant news stories.


LA21 Action Plan. The Action Plan was produced in 1998 following widespread consultation. The plan provides a blueprint for the issues that LA21 focus their attention towards.

 

Green Pages Project. This guide to Sustainable Living was written, researched and produced by Woking LA21. 


 

Greener Homes Guide. This guide is currently being promoted by Woking LA21. Find out how you could aim for a more environmentally friendly home.

 

Gardening For Life Project. The long term and award winning Gardening For Life initiative has provided residents with environmentally friendly gardening ideas for more than 7 years. 

 

Get Involved! Woking LA21 is a community led initiative that seeks to involve all who visit, live and work in the Woking Borough.
