Getting involved in overview and scrutiny

There are a number of ways you can keep up to date and get involved with the work of the Overview and Scrutiny Commitee.

Attending meetings

By attending Overview and Scrutiny Committee meetings you can follow the progress of items and reviews in person.  Meetings usually take place in the Council Chamber at the Civic Offices, Gloucester Square, Woking.  Check the 'Overview and Scrutiny Committee meetings' page on our website for the agenda and to confirm the time and venue of the meeting.

All Overview and Scrutiny Committee meetings are open to the public are very welcome to come along.  However, if the committee needs to discuss confidential information regarding an item on the agenda, the press and members of the public will be asked to leave the room during the discussion.

Suggesting a topic for review

Is there anything you would like the Overview and Scrutiny Committee to review?

The Committee welcomes suggestions of topics for review and will consider issues put forward by any member of the public, interest group or business.

In order to be considered, suggestions for review must meet the following criteria.

  • Affect a group of people living within the Woking Borough.
  • Relate to a service, event or issue in which the Council has a significant stake or over which the Council has an influence.
  • Not be an issue which overview and scrutiny has considered during the last 12 months.
  • Not relate to an individual service complaint.
  • Not relate to matters dealt with by another Council Committee, unless the issue deals with procedure.
