The Licensing Committee is responsible for all functions relating to licensing and registration for:
Public Entertainments
Cinemas and Theatres
Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicles
Animal Welfare
Sex Establishments
Betting, Gaming and Lotteries
Caravan and Camping Sites
Food Preparation
Markets and Street Trading
Night Cafes and Takeaway Food Shops
Registration of Door Staff
Licensing of Hypnotism
Licensing of Premises for acupuncture, tattooing, ear-piercing and electrolysis
Health and Safety (other than in Council's capacity)
The Licensing Committee delegates responsibility for new Premises Licences and variations to existing Premises Licences to two Sub-Committees, which are each comprised of three Licensing Committee members.
The Licensing Committee also delegates responsibility for taxi matters to a Taxi Licensing Sub Committee, which is comprised of six Licensing Committee members.
All meetings of the Committee are open to members of the public and are held at 6.30 p.m. Members of the press or public will be asked to leave the room in the event that confidential items of business are considered.
Additonal meetings of the Committee may be held in the event of any licensing or registration issues arising between the dates of the scheduled meetings.
