Current Polling Place: Brookwood Memorial Hall

There is on site parking, with dedicated bays for disabled drivers. The building is centrally located in Brookwood and is accessible for all electors. The Council has contributed in the past to improvements to pedestrian access and provision of lighting to access the building.

Brookwood Primary School on Connaught Road has not been used as a Polling Station for many years. This is in line with the Council's policy not to use schools as polling stations.

Brookwood (BA) was combined into one single polling district with Brookwood East (AB) in December 2004. Representations have been received to establish a separate polling place in the Percheron Drive area of Brookwood. There are 171 properties in this area, with 340 electors. It is not considered cost effective to create a separate polling district and allocate a polling place in this area.

BA - Knaphill West

EA - Horsell West

Current Polling Place - Horsell Village School

This venue has parking facilities on site and is accessible for disabled electors. This venue is not as ideal as the room used is small and it is difficult to accommodate two polling stations, especially at peak periods on election day. Representations have been received regarding the use of alternative venues in Horsell, which are being investigated. The possibility of using Horsell Evangelical Church, High Street as the polling place for EA (Horsell West) for future elections is being investigated.

Horsell West (EA) was combined into one single polling district with Horsell North (EC) in December 2004. Representations have been received to redistribute electors between EA and EB polling districts. This request is being considered, to ensure a more even distribution of electors between the two polling districts.

EB - Horsell Park

Electorate (1st August 2007) 1,005

Current Polling Place - Trinity Methodist Church

This venue is a shared polling place with FA (Horsell East) polling district. There are two separate halls used within the building. There are parking facilities on site, including dedicated disabled parking. The building is accessible for disabled electors. A ramp could be provided to access the room used as a polling station for EB, so that all electors use the same entrance. There is adequate room and sufficient equipment (tables and chairs) to accommodate the polling station. Temporary signs directing electors to the polling station will be erected on polling day. No problems have been reported by Presiding Officers. No change is recommended for this polling place.

Representations have been received to redistribute electors between EA and EB polling districts. This request is being considered, to ensure a more even distribution of electors between the two polling districts.

FA - Horsell East

Given the high turnout in this ward, it is proposed to split this polling district and create a further polling district and polling place.

The Maybury Infant School was previously used as a polling station and is the only alternative building within the Polling District. This has not been used as a Polling Station for many years, in line with the Council's policy not to use schools as polling stations.

GB - Maybury

Electorate (1st August 2007) 1,782

Current Polling Place - Alpha Road Community Hall

There is parking on site, with designated places for disabled drivers. The building is accessible to all electors. There is adequate room and sufficient equipment (tables and chairs) to accommodate the two polling stations that are located here. Temporary signs directing electors to the polling station will be erected on polling day. No problems have been reported by Presiding Officers, however the adjoining doctors surgery has been the subject of vandalism and fire damage the week of elections in previous years. No change is recommended for this polling place.

New Monument School was previously used as polling station but is no longer used in line with the Council's policy not to use schools as polling stations.

GC - Sheerwater

Current Polling Place - Sheerwater Community Centre

There are parking facilities on site with designated disabled parking spaces. The building is accessible for all electors. Presiding Officers have commented that a bigger room would be more suitable for the two polling stations located here. However there is sufficient equipment (tables and chairs) to accommodate the polling stations. Temporary signs directing electors to the polling station will be erected on polling day. No change is recommended for this polling place

Broadmere Primary School could be used as an alternative venue, but this would not be in line with the Council's policy not to use schools as polling stations.

Presiding Officers have commented that there was no access to a fridge; this will investigated for future elections.

HA - Mount Hermon West

Should the Barnsbury Estate regeneration project proceed, the inclusion of a suitable community facility will be considered, to provide a new location for a polling place.

Sythwood School is used for parliamentary elections, but this is not in line with the Council's policy not to use schools as polling stations.

The possibility of using the new Salvation Army centre, off Sythwood, for all future elections is being investigated.

MB - Goldsworth South
