Political make up

The political composition of the Council is as follows. 

The 36 seats on the Council are occupied by 18 Conservative, 17 Liberal Democrat and 1 Independent;  accordingly there is no overall control of the Council.  As a result of the Borough election held on 1 May 2008, there are 36 elected Members. 

The next election for Woking Borough Council will be held on 6 May 2010.  There are scheduled elections for Surrey County Council and the European Parliament in 2009.
