Political make up

Following the election on 1 May 2008 the political composition of the Council remains the same.  The thirty six seats on the Council are occupied by nineteen Conservative and seventeen Liberal Democrat;  accordingly the Conservatives have overall control of the Council.  As a result of the Borough election held on 1 May 2008, there are 36 elected members. 

The next election for Woking Borough Council will be held on 6 May 2010.  There are scheduled elections for Surrey County Council and the European Parliament in 2009.
